GYNECOLOGIC ONCOLOGY
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO
The gynecology and cancer programs at the University of Chicago Hospitals
were ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report
(July, 1999).
Specialists here are working to discover new methods of detecting and
treating ovarian, cervical, and uterine/endometrial cancer. Our gynecologic
oncologists are part of a multidisciplinary team including medical oncologists,
radiation oncologists, pathologists, clinical nurse specialists, and social
workers. The team develops individualized treatment alternatives which
the physician discusses with the patient and her family. Treatment options
include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of
therapies.
For over half a century, the University of Chicago has been a national
leader in cancer research and treatment and has made significant contributions
in understanding and treating gynecologic malignancies. Our program is
a member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, a national organization devoted
to developing new and effective therapies for gynecologic tumors. As a
research center, we offer more treatment options including newer therapies
which may not be available at other hospitals.
Call (773) 702-6123 or toll free, 1 (888) UCH-0200, to schedule an appointment
